LemoNX

FAQ

Questions and answers.

Running games without JIT, certificates, storage, mods, and setup.

Do I still need JIT?

No, if you use JIT-less mode and have the certificate (.p12) you installed LemoNX with. Without that certificate, use JIT through the built-in setup or another JIT enabler. See the setup guide.

How does JIT-less mode work?

An emulator normally translates game code while the game runs, which needs JIT. In JIT-less mode LemoNX translates the game's code ahead of time, signs the result on your device with your certificate, and loads it like any other signed code. It is not an interpreter: the code runs natively.

Which certificate do I need?

The one that signed your LemoNX installation, as a .p12 file with its password. The page shows Ready to sign only when the certificate matches your installation. If your installer manages the certificate for you and cannot export it, use JIT mode.

Is it slower than JIT?

In our tests games ran at about the same speed as with JIT. The difference is the first launch of each game, while its code is prepared.

Why does the first launch take longer?

The first launch of a game compiles and signs all of its code, which takes about half a minute and shows a progress bar. Later launches only load it. Updating LemoNX, changing JIT-less options, or changing a game's code mods prepares the code again once.

How much storage does it use?

About 0.7 to 1.3 GB per game. LemoNX keeps the current version and the two most recently used, and removes older ones automatically. Clear Compiled Code in the JIT-less settings removes all of it.

Do mods work without JIT?

Yes. Mods that patch or add code are prepared while the game runs, which can cause short pauses the first time. Tested with UltraCam for Tears of the Kingdom and Skyline plugins for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Smash crashes during online play with mods. What should I do?

Smashline 2.0.0 crashes Smash during online play, with or without JIT. The Smash starter pack installs Smashline 1.6.8. If you installed Smashline yourself, use 1.6.8.

The status light says AOT in orange.

JIT-less mode is on, but signing is not ready: the certificate is missing, the password is wrong, or the certificate does not match your installation. Open the JIT-less settings to see the reason.

Is the pairing file safe?

It contains private credentials for your device. LemoNX keeps it in protected app storage, excludes it from backups, and never sends it to a server. Creating one on the device requires iOS 27.

Should I use Metal 4 or Vulkan?

Metal 4 is LemoNX's native renderer and does less work per draw than the Vulkan path in our tests. It is still experimental: if a game shows rendering problems, choose Vulkan for that game.

Does LemoNX include games or keys?

No. Use games, keys, and firmware dumped from your own console.
